Welcome back and to 2018!
It has been a great start to the week so far! :) Room 105 has had a makeover, and I have introduced flexible seating into the classroom. We are piloting a new math program, we are jumping into spelling, and Reconciliation is around the corner! Here are some updates for the weeks to come.
1. Dreambox Math: Dreambox is a new system we are piloting as a whole school. It is a system that is supposed to attend to the learning needs of each individual child, meaning it will give material based on the student's math ability. On Wednesday the 10th, I am sending home a letter with more information and how to access this program at home!
2. Spelling: Word lists are going out to students to practice our spelling. This is a program we will be doing in school. Words WILL NOT be sent home for students to practice. Students are exploring spelling patterns instead of simply memorizing words. If you have any questions feel free to contact me :)
3. Act of Sorrow: We are practicing the Act of Sorrow in class. I am sending a copy home with the students. Please practice this at home. The students need to have this memorized for Reconciliation.
4. Flexible seating: Students are going to start coming home talking about how they no longer have an assigned seat. I have decided to change to room to a "flexible" classroom. We have a standing table, a table with movable chairs, regular desks, and clipboards to be used on the carpet. Allowing students to choose their environment has so far been a great decision! The students are loving it.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me! :)
