Happy Fall! Things are falling into place in Room 105. The kids are working hard as we prepare for the end of our first trimester! Here are a few updates:
1. Popcorn parties! I am sure some of you may have heard about the potential of a classroom "Popcorn Party". In the classroom, we have started to earn popcorn kernels as reward for making good choices. These kernels are put into a bucket in the front of the room. Once the kids have earned a bucket full of popcorn, we are going to have a popcorn/movie party to celebrate all of our hard work! There will be a permission slip for a movie when we get a little closer to our goal. The kids have loved it so far, so fingers crossed this is a good reward system!
2. Stations are back! I took a week off from stations to help the kids realize they get easily bored and distracted in a traditional teaching setting. This week, we are back to stations and the kids have already made better choices during their work time. They (and I) am thrilled at this progress!
3. Parent-Teacher conferences are quickly approaching! Each slot is only 10 minutes. If there is something specific grade/subject you would like to discuss, please email me. I will take note of your request and this will help me guide the conference efficiently.
4. Just a reminder: Please try and keep all Lego toys and Pokemon cards at home. These toys have become a source of issue in the classroom. If I find a child playing with these kinds of toys, they will be taken away for the day. If it is a recurring issue, I will hold the toys until a parent asks for the toys back.
