IMPORTANT DATES: 5/18: $1 JEANS DAY 5/18: KINDERGARTEN LEMONADE STAND (10 CENTS PER CUP)
Today during the end of the school day, we had a break through as a group and the students were truly empathizing with each other about how actions effect the class as a whole, not just the people involved in situations. We shared many tears as we learned about those who were holding in emotions and problem solved our way to a cohesive understanding. I told the class that crying was not a sign of weakness, but a sign of care and compassion for one another. As an end of the day activity, the students came together with others they do not normally surround themselves with and created lists of how we should end the school year on our last day (unfortunately, pool party may be out of the question...). I know this is something we all hoped would have come earlier in the year, but now is better than never. These kids really are amazing human beings. I am really proud of the support and care they shared towards one another this afternoon.
If a student does not feel they were able to talk to me about everything they had hoped to get off their chest, I will be opening student conference times during our math stations tomorrow morning. If as a parent you would also like to set up a meeting to discuss these things, please email me and I would be happy to set up a meeting with you.
We have 11 days! As a class, we will be aiming for 11 days of kindness. Thank you for your continued support from home. It does really make a difference.
